Yesterday, it rained all day so Lance kept the kids busy by teaching them to play chess. I was surprised at how much they enjoyed it and how much the understood. Lance let them win and they were very proud of themselves. Later in the day they started playing "chess" using themselves and the kitchen tiles. Lance joined in and asked Brycen what piece he should be to which Brycen responded "the puddle guy." Lance and I just looked at each other and then I figured it out. Brycen thought the Pawn was a Pond and then he forgot the name, but remember it had something to do with water and came up with puddle. It was too funny!
Last week I taught the kids about Michelangelo. We learned about how it took four years to paint the Sistine Chapel. Then I taped paper to the underside of our table and the kids practiced "painting on the ceiling." They thought it was very cool. When Lance got home, the boys had him search for the new artwork, which was still under the table. Finally, after a lot of clues he found the artwork.

Scottie loves to do sit-ups! He can do at least 50 of these rolling sit-ups and the whole time he is doing them he laughs. It is just a riot to watch him go. He has always had Abs of Steel.

I did not know what Brycen's picture was until I read this blog post. I think it will still be a while before Zac or Brycen give me a run for my money.
So upscale activities. I didn't know Lance knew how to play chess. He will have to teach me. Very inventive idea for the painting. I never have heard of it before. I told Zac his rain should becoming here, but it missed us. We are getting better at managing our invalid ways each day, but have a doctor appointment every day. Hope you are doing better than we are.
I loved this post. . . what a fun idea to teach the kids. . . when I was in Rome last fall, the line was around the whole of Vatican City to get into the Sistine Chapel because the Pope was going to be there that day or something. So I didn't see it. Your boys did an equally great version. Without the line. I wish I had Scottie's skills! xoxoxo
